🐋 More AI Models

It’s not easy to stay up-to-date with all the new AI models that pop up every so often. Let alone actually try them and experience them first-hand. That’s why we’re continuing with our vision of building one UI that supports many models.

Today, we're adding a bunch of new models to Raycast AI! Including DeepSeek’s R1, which has taken the world by surprise last week. Reasoning models such as R1 and the new Sonar Reasoning are fascinating. They bridge the gap between raw data and human-like decision making. Aside from these reasoning models, we’ve also added new models from Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Perplexity, and OpenAI.

We’re launching Raycast Focus that lets you achieve your goals without any distractions. Simply use the “Start Focus Session” command to get started. Set a goal, define the duration you want to work on it, and select the apps and websites you want to block.

Disclaimer: Most of the data displayed is stored locally, and Raycast does not have access to it. If you moved between machines during the year, some of the data might have been lost. If you’ve used Raycast for less than 14 days, you will not have enough data to be displayed – but there’s always next year!

💎 Improvements

• Raycast Notes: You can now find and replace text in the note by pressing ⌘F or by using the “Find in Note” action in the action panel
• Raycast Notes: You can now increase or decrease note content scale with ⌘= and ⌘- shortcuts or by using “Zoom In” and “Zoom Out” actions in the action panel. The “Reset Zoom” action will make note content follow the general Raycast text size setting

• Window Management: Fixed commands failing on Outlook window
• System Settings Extension: Brought back commands for accessing inner System Settings preference panes such as Keyboard Shortcuts or Current Network Details
• Raycast Notes: Improved highlighting of selected text

⚙️ Manage Auto Quits

A few weeks ago, we released Auto Quits, a feature that automatically quits applications after a period of inactivity. So far, Raycast auto-quit more than 1M applications. To make it easier to configure the feature, we’ve introduced a new Manage Auto Quits command. The command gives you an overview of your apps, lets you quickly change the interval, and for Pro users, lets you smartly set up multiple distracting apps at the same time.

🌐 Safari Browser Extension

Earlier this year we released a companion browser extension for Chromium-based browsers. Since then, we expanded its capabilities with AI Attachments and API. Today, we are releasing the same browser extension for Safari, bringing all its goodies to users who prefer Apple’s browser.

• You can now copy whole note or selected text as markdown/HTML/plain text
• You can now share a note to other apps like Apple Notes, iMessage, etc. Use the “Export…” action in the action panel

• Navigation history is saved when Raycast is restarted
• Added toggling between character count and word count in note footer

• Clipboard History: Fixed the issue where a newly copied item was not selected after quickly opening the clipboard history search

📝 Raycast Notes

Today, our beloved little Floating Notes have grown up and turned into Raycast Notes. It’s a lightweight and frictionless experience with new features:

1. Formatting: You can now format your notes with Markdown, a simple Format Bar, or common keyboard shortcuts.
2. Multiple Notes: It comes with 5 free notes, and with a Pro subscription, you can create an unlimited number of notes.
3. Deeply Integrated: It’s seamlessly integrated into Raycast’s ecosystem. Commands in the root search enable you to create and search your notes. An inline emoji picker allows for self-expression, while AI Commands ensure your grammar is always correct.

This is a big overhaul of one of the features that became table-stakes for many of us. Special thanks to our beta testers who helped us get here. Read more in our blog post and manual page.

💎 Improvements

• AI Chat / Quick AI: Added a Copy Log action which can be useful when reporting errors etc
• Calculator: In addition to minor fixes, several improvements have been made to the calculator.
  • Data transfer functions: calculate the duration of file transfers (e.g., “time to 3GB at 10 MB/s” results in 300s)
  • Speeding up time functions: use a multiplier with a duration (e.g., “54 minutes at 1.5x” results in 36 min)
  • Financial functions: calculate interest-related queries (e.g., "savings required for $10k/month @ 5.6%” results in $2.143M)
  • Percentage functions: calculate the percentage of one number based on an amount (e.g., “1k on 100k” results in 1% and “50 off 150” yields 33%)
  • Lunar day: get the current day of the lunar cycle (e.g., “lunar day” or “lunar day on December 25th, 2025)
  • Units: added cubic micrometer & square nanometer units and support for unit expressions with a fractional value, like "1 1/2 pounds"
  • Currencies: Polygon symbol (formerly MATIC) was updated to POL. Additionally, Wei and Gwei sub-denominations of ETH have been added.

🐞 Fixes

• Shortcuts: Fixed crashes occurring when retrieving Siri Shortcuts through Scripting Bridge. If you ever disabled Siri Shortcuts through defaults, now it is time to re-enable them.
• AI Chat: Ensure the frontmost app is focused when closing the chat window
• Settings: Do not reset detail view scroll position when reloading
• Cloud Sync: Improved error handling when enabling sync
• Misc: Addressed the issue with macOS Sequoia 15.0 Beta 1 to 4 and 15.1 Beta 1, where the app crashes at launch. In these specific OS versions, a breaking change in Apple frameworks prevents Raycast from functioning normally. If you are using these versions, you will see an alert and must update your system to the latest available macOS version.
• Window Management: Fixed screens sorting to be consistent in all cases

⌨️ Escape Key Behavior

You can now customize the behavior of the Raycast window when the Escape key is pressed. By default, it clears the search bar and navigates back. However, users transitioning from other launchers may expect the window to close when the Escape key is pressed. You can change the behavior in Settings → Advanced Settings → Escape Key Behavior.

• Eject All Disks: Now ignores iOS 18 simulator disk images
• Fallback Commands: Commands can now be reordered using drag-and-drop
• Clipboard History: Disabling Update History after action now only applies to actions run in the Clipboard History command
• Search Emoji & Symbols: Added symbols for Return, Tab, Escape, and Forward-Delete keys

🐞 Fixes

• Auto Quit: Removed the Auto Quit action for Finder, which cannot be terminated
• Search Bar: Added error toasts informing the user about reaching the character limit when pasting text
• Quick AI: Regenerating after changing the model should now utilize the new model
• AI Preferences: Fixed the issue of the model dropdown closing automatically after a period
• Clipboard History: Fixed the incorrect item selection when searching for an item
• Misc: Fixed the selection of the wrong item in lists when a user has more than 12 pinned items

Sequoia Ready

While there are no major new features, we've focused on ironing out few bits to make Raycast run smoothly on Sequoia. Enjoy improved stability and performance!

• Quicklinks: Import or export Quicklinks in JSON format using new commands “Import Quicklinks” and “Export Quicklinks”. They can also be exported using an action from the search
• AI Commands: Built-in commands previously using the Open AI GPT-3.5 Turbo model now use GPT-4o mini

🐞 Fixes

• Window Management: Fixed Next/Previous Display shortcuts not working after attaching new displays while Raycast is running
• Window Management: Fixed pasting from Clipboard History to “Create Window Layout” window text fields
• AI Chat: Fixed “Active Document from App” appearing when no documents were available
• Clipboard History: Fixed the first item being selected after deleting an entry
• Account Preferences: Resolved issues with trial information displayed incorrectly on the account page for referrals

✨ Bug fixes & Improvements

While this is a small release, it includes a private beta for the major feature that people have been asking for a while – the next iteration of floating notes. Before we roll it out to everyone, we want to test it with a small group of people to iron out the experience. You can apply for the beta in our Slack Community. Hopefully, the private beta phase won’t take long, and we will make this feature available to everyone soon.

How do I solve a quadratic equation? Now you see the results rendered beautifully with LaTeX in AI Chat and Quick AI 🥳. We also support LaTeX in a few other places such as extension detail view Markdown. See the manual for more details.

✨ New

• AI Commands: You can now set a default model for custom AI Commands in Settings → AI. Any custom commands that have the Default model selected will dynamically use whichever model is set as default.

💎 Improvements

• My Schedule: updated the logo for Webex
• Search AI Commands: Select multiple commands and batch change the model or creativity. This makes it much easier to update commands when new models become available
• AI Chat: We’ve added a Full Content Width setting to control the width of the chat content for larger window sizes. By default Full Content Width is disabled
• Auto Quit: Now compatible with Cloud Sync, so your auto quit settings will automatically sync and be applied across all your Macs.
